Bali Provincial Government Will Transfer Isoman COVID-19 Patients

DENPASAR - The Bali Provincial Government and Regency/City Government together with Kodam IX/Udayana-Polda Bali and their staff will immediately transfer confirmed COVID-19 patients who are undergoing independent isolation (isoman) to a centralized isolation location.

"This step is to improve services and reduce the risk of transmission of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 case," said Bali Governor Wayan Koster in a written statement, Monday, February 7.

Koster conveyed that this was related to the results of the Coordination Meeting for Strengthening Health Protocols to Anticipate the Spread of COVID-19 Variant Omicron on Sunday, February 6, together with relevant stakeholders.

In addition to transferring patients who are isoman, it is also accompanied by the preparation of adequate centralized isolation facilities and the anticipation of increasing the need for beds in hospitals.

Then also the availability of oxygen, and health workers, as well as preparing hotel facilities for health workers who serve COVID-19 patients in hospitals, health centers, and centralized isolation.

Based on data from the Bali Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force until February 6, 2022, the total active cases were 9,887 people.

Of that number, 954 people (9.65 percent) were hospitalized, then 1,551 people (15.69 percent) were in centralized isolation, 7,382 people (74.66 percent) underwent self-isolation.

Until now, there are 90 centralized isolation places spread across nine regencies/cities in Bali Province with a total capacity of 2,110 beds and 1,551 beds have been filled (73.51 percent).

"The cumulative number of recovered patients confirmed positive for COVID-19 has reached 88.84 percent. The number of recoveries is far below the daily number of new cases, which results in a burden of hospitalization and centralized isolation," said Koster.

Therefore, said Koster, those who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 without symptoms and mild symptoms should immediately take the initiative to carry out centralized isolation that has been prepared by the government and are prohibited from self-isolation at home so as not to infect their families.

Meanwhile, those who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 with moderate and severe symptoms should immediately go to a referral hospital in their respective areas, in order to avoid worsening conditions and endanger themselves.

Although the case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is growing very quickly, Koster invites the Balinese to remain calm, not panic, and must remain vigilant.

"We must continue to obey and implement health protocols and apply a healthy lifestyle free from COVID-19 with the 6 M's, namely wearing standard masks properly, washing hands, maintaining distance, reducing travel, increasing immunity, and obeying the rules," said Koster.
