Cooking Oil Stock "Disappears" In Jabodetabek, Polri: Late Distribution

JAKARTA - The National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency stated that there was a shortage of cooking oil in small retailers in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi areas. The reason is due to delays in delivery.

"The cause of the stock vacancy is the delay in the delivery of cooking oil from the distributor," said the Director of Special Economic Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan in his statement, Monday, February 7.

Then, another cause for the vacancy of cooking oil is the high purchase by the public. However, it is not included in the context of hoarding or punic buying.

"People are very enthusiastic about buying cooking oil," said Whisnu.

Whisnu said, there was also a shortage of cooking oil in the mini market. However, the selling price still follows the Highest Retail Price (HET) set by the government.

"In small modern retailers, such as Indomart and Alfa Mart, the majority of availability is empty, distribution is carried out between 2-4 days, the selling price follows the HET of Rp. 14,000 per liter," said Whisnu.

The two causes of the vacancy in the availability of cooking oil are known based on the results of checking Unit III Sub-Directorate I Industry and Trade (Indag) of the Criminal Investigation Department in several markets and retails on February 5

With these obstacles, the Criminal Investigation Department, especially the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes, will coordinate with the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag). The goal is to find out the obstacles in the distribution process.

"Coordination with the Ministry of Trade is to find out the obstacles in implementing the cooking oil price policy according to the type, policies related to domestic market obligation (DMO), domestic price obligation (DPO) and the Refraction Policy," said Whisnu.
