COVID-19 Is The Reason Why Some Artists Use Drugs, Including Reza Artamevia

JAKARTA - A number of artists have been arrested by the police for consuming drugs. Most of them admitted to using these prohibited items because they were bored at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Including artist Reza Artamevia, who was recently caught for consuming methamphetamine. To investigators, he admitted to using shabu-shabu because he was bored at home during COVID-19.

"Indeed, every time we secure it is asked for the motive, one of which is like that. Say during this pandemic at home and then be affected and then use it again. That is one of the motives done," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Monday, 7 September.

Yusri emphasized that this reason would not change the criminal suspicion against the artist. According to him, if the act fulfills a criminal element, legal action will still be carried out.

"In this case, if it meets the elements of the suspicion of the article on law (number) 35, we will apply it in that article," he said.

Previously, the Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus, suspected that the reason why the former wife of the late Adjie Massaid consumed methamphetamine was because she was bored at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Usually, some of the public figures that we catch will definitely convey that this fills the time gap, because they are at home, so they are affected by using this illegal item," said Yusri.

From the results of the police investigation so far, Reza has only admitted to using crystal methamphetamine because he is often at home.

"The results of the examination, RA admitted that he used this crystal methamphetamine during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was often at home, this is his confession. We are still investigating because of his confession like that. Then what kind of motive, we are still exploring," said Yusri.

Reza Artamevia was arrested at a restaurant on Jalan Raya Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Friday, September 5 at around 16.00 WIB. When arrested, Reza had just bought the crystal methamphetamine.

From this arrest, the police found evidence in the form of a crystal methamphetamine clip weighing 0.78 grams. When arrested Reza was with two of his colleagues.

However, the two people were not further processed because no evidence was found and the urine test results were negative. Meanwhile, for Reza, the results were proven to have consumed amphetamines.
