PEKANBARU - The Pekanbaru City Government has again received an additional 32,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine stock from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia.

This addition is to accelerate the achievement of vaccinations, especially for children and the elderly.

"For now, the stock of vaccine doses is still sufficient because we have indeed received thousands of doses from the Ministry of Health," said Pekanbaru Health Office Head Zaini Rizaldy Saragih in Pekanbaru, as reported by Antara, Thursday, February 3.

Zaini said that currently the vaccine has been stored in the Logistics Pharmacy Installation Warehouse in Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City, for further distribution as needed, such as in health centers, hospitals, or other health facilities.

To achieve the target of vaccination achievement in Pekanbaru City, he continued, the Health Office has collaborated with several agencies and schools.

"Hopefully that way, the achievement of vaccination in Pekanbaru can reach the target in order to achieve group immunity to avoid exposure to COVID-19," he said.

He added, currently the realization of vaccination in Pekanbaru for children aged 6-11 years has reached 103,017 people. While those who have been vaccinated first are 43,437 or 42.16 percent.

"While the realization of the second vaccination is only 1.34 percent or as many as 1,383 children," he added.

Zaini also appealed to parents not to be afraid or worried about registering their children for the COVID-19 vaccine because so far in the Pekanbaru City area there were no significant problems with their children after being vaccinated.

"God willing, it's safe, don't believe the circulating hoaxes," he said.
