North Penajam Paser DPRD Asks Central Government To Pay Attention To IKN Supporting Areas

PENAJAM - Chairman of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of North Penajam Paser Regency, Jon Kenedi, hopes that the central government will pay attention to the development of the national capital buffer zone (IKN) as the plan will be relocated to parts of North Penajam Paser Regency and parts of Kutai Kartanegara Regency in East Kalimantan.

"We ask the central government to provide a budget to support the development of the buffer zone for the national capital," said Jon Kenedi in Penajam, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 3.

"Especially for North Penajam Paser Regency and other buffer areas in East Kalimantan," added the Democrat Party politician.

North Penajam Paser Regency expects the central government to provide more budget so that there is a balance between the development of the national capital and the development of buffer zones.

According to him, the legislature and the executive have coordinated with the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency regarding the relocation of the nation's capital city.

During the meeting, several aspirations regarding the rights of indigenous peoples and the budget to support the development of buffer zones for the national capital were conveyed.

"It was explained that the central government would not only build the nation's capital, but also build buffer zones and local governments were asked to prepare development plans so that the central government's budget would be accommodated," he said.

The DPRD together with the district government will also oversee the preparation of PP (government regulations) and Perpres (presidential regulations) as the legal umbrella for the derivation of the State Capital Law or IKN.

"We will oversee the issuance of PP and Perpres so that the rights of local people are accommodated, and the IKN buffer area can receive a larger portion of the budget," said Jon Kenedi.

After the IKN Law was passed by the DPR on January 18, 2021, the central government is currently working on a number of derivative regulations from the law in the form of PP and Presidential Decree.

One of them is the Presidential Decree on the Authority for the National Capital of the Archipelago or the Special Regional Government for the National Capital and the Presidential Decree on the Spatial Planning of the National Strategic Capital Region of the National Capital of the Archipelago.
