6 Days Newborn Baby In Bengkulu Positive For COVID-19, His Condition Is Getting Better And Stable

BANGKA- The Bengkulu Provincial Health Office stated that the current condition of a 6-day-old baby positive for COVID-19 has improved and is stable. The baby is still being treated in the Fatmawati isolation room at the M. Yunus hospital in Bengkulu City and will be discharged in the next few days.

"Based on reports from the hospital, his condition is stable and getting better," said Head of the Bengkulu Provincial Health Office, Herwan Antoni in Bengkulu, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 3.

In addition, his party has also asked the hospital where the baby was born for further medical examinations. However, they have not received a report so far.

In general, the implementation of the PPKM level in several areas in Bengkulu, especially in Bengkulu City, continues to be improved to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

"For the people in Bengkulu Province to continue to implement the prokes strictly and not to be careless," said Herwan.

Previously, the Bengkulu Provincial Health Office stated that a 6-day-old baby boy who was positive for COVID-19 was suspected to have contracted it from a health worker at a hospital in Bengkulu City who was providing care and services to the baby.

The baby was detected at a hospital in Bengkulu City and during a swab test was declared positive for COVID-19.

From the results of the examination, it was found that the baby's parents were negative for COVID-19, so it was most likely that the baby was infected by health workers during treatment at the hospital.
