The Vice President Calls The Arrangement Of The House Of Worship There Is A Solution

MAKASSAR - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that solutions related to the arrangement of places of worship in Indonesia have been regulated through a Joint Ministerial Regulation (PBM) between the Minister of Religion (Menag) and the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri).

"There's already a solution, the rules, the PBM. So actually the solution already exists, it has been made, it's just that sometimes people don't comply. If they don't comply, law enforcement will be enforced," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at Makassar, South Sulawesi, reported by Antara, Monday, 31.

The Vice President explained that the PBM of the Minister of Religion and the Minister of Home Affairs Number 9 of 2006 and Number 8 of 2006 were an agreement from various religious assemblies. Thus, the Vice President continued, issues related to the establishment of houses of worship for various religions have been agreed upon by the interfaith assemblies in Indonesia.

"Actually, PBM is an agreement between religious assemblies on how to handle it," he said.

Therefore, the Vice President appealed to all religious communities to comply with these regulations so that inter-religious conflicts do not occur in the regions.

"As long as the PBM is complied with, it will avoid the problem of conflict over the place of worship, because it is detailed in the PBM," he stressed. The worship is used as a mosque for all Muslims.

The dome of the mosque at the JAI house of worship has also been dismantled to be converted into a mosque for all Muslims.

"The JAI house of worship that has been established in Sintang can continue to function as a mosque that can be used by all Muslims. If it will be used for other functions, it must go through consultation with the Ahmadiyya Community as the owner of land and buildings," said the Head of the Center for Harmony of the People Religion (PKUB) Ministry of Religion Wawan Djunaidi in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday, January 30.
