President Jokowi Emphasizes The Importance Of ICMI In Indonesia's Transformation

BOGOR - Indonesian President Joko Widodo said the government needed the contribution of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) in the transformation of Indonesia into the developed country that it aspires to be.

This was conveyed by President Jokowi in his remarks, while attending the Inauguration of the ICMI Central Management Council and opening the 2022 ICMI National Working Meeting, via a video conference from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

"We really hope ICMI's contribution to the transformation of Indonesia, we really need it to work together to build an advanced Indonesia that we aspire to", said President Jokowi in Bogor, Saturday, January 29.

President Jokowi also said that the government is currently working hard to oversee several major transformations. The Head of State emphasized that Indonesia is currently carrying out a structural transformation so that Indonesia can be more competitive to face today's hypercompetitive world.

"We have to open the widest possible job opportunities, we have to prosper farmers, fishermen, industrial workers. We must facilitate so that MSME players can advance to class with digitalization, we must support the improvement of domestic products. There are so many things we really have to do", he explained.

The President said the National Capital Development Program (IKN) in East Kalimantan was an important part of Indonesia's transformation. According to him, the IKN program and several major transformations that are currently taking place require the support of all parties.

Therefore, the President expects ICMI's contribution to this transformation.

"I believe ICMI has a great capacity to contribute ideas, thoughts. Not only as a role model for Islam Rahmatan lil Alamin but also professional contributions, according to their respective expertise to ensure the progress of advanced Indonesia", he explained.
