Omicron Cases Have Not Been Found In Bekasi Regency, Although The Positive Number Of COVID-19 Has Increased Again

BEKASI - The Bekasi Regency COVID-19 Task Force, West Java, stated that until now, no cases of transmission of the Omicron variant have been found in its area.

"Omicron has not been found in Bekasi Regency, but we report every case that has a history of foreign travel for inspection and indeed, until now, no Omicron case has been found," said Deputy Spokesperson for the Bekasi District COVID-19 Task Force, Masrikoh in Cikarang, as reported by Antara. , Friday, January 28.

However, according to him, there are several cases of infection suspected of being COVID-19 which are still being examined by the Ministry of Health and the West Java Provincial Government.

"We all hope that this probable is not the Omicron variant," he said.

Masrikoh said that the daily number of COVID-19 cases in Bekasi Regency increased significantly again with the discovery of 191 new active cases on Thursday, January 27, which brought the total number of active cases to 618 according to data from the West Java COVID-19 Information and Coordination Center.

According to Masrikoh, the increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the Bekasi Regency area did not occur due to Omicron transmission but due to increased mobility of residents.

"So you could say this is still the impact of the Delta attack, which rose again because of the holiday at the end of last year and this had been predicted beforehand," he said. to control the spread of the disease.

"Actually, the Bekasi Regency Government also wants to accelerate the booster (vaccination), not only for health workers and vulnerable groups, but also for the general public, but there are still limited vaccine stocks," said Masrikoh.

In addition to encouraging the implementation of vaccinations, the government is preparing health facilities and quarantine places to deal with the possibility of a spike in COVID-19 cases.

"So the plan is that there will be a double quarantine. If it has been quarantined in Jakarta, then entering the West Java area, it must be quarantined again for 14 days. This is a discourse in the province. If it is implemented, of course we are ready. We already have four special hotels for quarantine," said Masrikoh.
