SURABAYA - The candidate for mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, has submitted the resignation of the Head of the City Development Planning Agency (Bappeko). Eri immediately resigned after the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) gave a recommendation to himself to run in the Surabaya Pilkada.

"I have resigned from ASN. Automatically I also started not having an office," said Eri, Thursday, September 3, 2020.

Eri emphasized that he would become a PDIP cadre after the KPU and Armuji appointed him as a candidate pair for mayor-vice mayor.

"If the resignation process is complete. So when we are nominated from the PDIP, we will be part of the PDI-P party," he said.

This resignation was confirmed by the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini (Risma). "You have to resign, yes, he will definitely propose after the recommendation is down. That is to become a cadre," he said.

Regarding the candidacy of Eri-Armuji, the Head of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, asked for a solid cadre. Megawati threatened to impose sanctions for those who did not comply with party decisions.

“I just said consolidate the party, that's why I said watch out for Surabaya, who will play against me. Remember Surabaya, ”Megawati ordered.
