Lawyer Protests Call Of Criminal Investigation Unit: Remember Yes, Mr. Edy Mulyadi This Is A Senior Journalist, The Press Law Is Enacted

JAKARTA - Edy Mulyadi's team of lawyers protested because the letter summoning his client to investigate allegations of hate speech about Kalimantan, where the genie dumped his child, did not comply with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code. Apart from asserting that there was no SARA element in the viral statement, the lawyer asked the Police to enact the Press Law.

"Remember, Mr. Edy is a senior journalist. It means that the summons he spoke was as a senior journalist, not under what name. That means, we also want the Press Law to be enacted,” said the team of lawyers Edy Mulyadi Herman Kadir at the Criminal Investigation Unit at the National Police Headquarters, Friday, January 28.

Herman Kadir then explained about the rules for summoning journalists, which he said had to go through the Press Council. Because Edy Mulyadi was called a lawyer at that time talking about Kalimantan as the location of the new state capital in his capacity as a press person.

"The press's code of ethics is there, if he really violates it, go ahead. This means that the legal procedure, there is already cooperation between the police and PWI. This means that it is clear there, if it is what it is, it will be resolved first through the Press Council," he continued.

But what is certain is that the Bareskrim Polri in this case has examined 38 witnesses and experts.

“To date, a total of 30 witnesses and 8 expert witnesses have been questioned. There are 38 witnesses in total," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Thursday, January 27.

According to Ramadhan, dozens of witnesses were examined in different areas. Investigators asked for witness statements in East Kalimantan, East Java and Jakarta.

"The examination of witnesses in East Kalimantan as many as 10 people. Then the examination of witnesses in Central Java 2 people, then the third examination of witnesses in Jakarta 3 people," he said.

Meanwhile, for experts there are three additional people. The total number of experts questioned now amounts to eight people.

"The ITE expert, then the sociologist witness, then the criminal expert witness, and finally the linguist witness," said Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, the status of the alleged hate speech case with reported Edy Mulyadi has been investigated. The increase is based on the results of the case title.
