29 Indonesian Army Members Become Suspects Of The Ciracas Police Attack

JAKARTA - As many as 29 members of the Indonesian Army have been named as suspects in the aftermath of the destruction of the Ciracas Police Headquarters, East Jakarta. The attack on the Ciracas Police Department was triggered by hoaxes of beating up TNI members.

Commander of the Indonesian Army Military Police Center Lt. Gen. Dodik Wijanarko said the suspect's determination was based on the results of the investigation by the Indonesian Army Military Police Center (Puspom) from August 29 to September 2.

"The status of suspects and the detention of 29 personnel has been filed," said Dodik at the TNI AD Police Headquarters, Central Jakarta, Thursday, September 3.

In this investigation, the TNI AD Puspom examined 51 personnel. Puspom is currently still investigating allegations of involvement of the other 21 members.

"Then 1 person was returned because his status was purely a witness," said Dodik.

The attack on the Ciracas Police Station, East Jakarta, was said to have been triggered by Prada MI's confession. He admitted to being a victim of beatings. The news was spread through the Whatsapp short message application group.

However, based on examination of facts in the field, there were no attacks on members of the TNI. Danpuspom TNI Major General (Mayjen) TNI Eddy Rate Muis said the results of the interim investigation of Prada MI had a single accident.

"Prada Ilham, a few days before the incident, was approximately Thursday, if I'm not mistaken, he had an accident, so after being checked on CCTV, witnesses were examined at the TKP. It was concluded that Prada Ilham had a single accident," said Eddy.
