JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan wants Jakarta to become an international economic and business center in 2023-2026 or after his term of office ends in 2022.

He conveyed this in the Talkshow Format and Governance in the context of Formulating the Regional Development Plan (RPD) of DKI Jakarta Province for 2023-2026.

"Jakarta currently contributes 18 percent of the national GDP. If we can continue to make economic activities efficient, this leap will be even stronger, because the international gateway remains in Jakarta," said Anies at City Hall, Thursday, January 27. .

As is known, in the next few years the national capital will move from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. Then, Jakarta is currently also recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the various changes that Jakarta has experienced, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is required to reorganize the management of this city. For this reason, Jakarta is currently drafting the 2023-2026 RPD.

The preparation of the RPD is expected to make Jakarta the center of the economy, education and health. RPD is not only related to administrative matters as well as continuing existing programs, but also considers Jakarta's position in the orbit of the world's megapolitan cities.

"So, the reality is that Jakarta will undergo a transformation. But, for Jakarta, it's not really that status that matters. Now we are talking about how Jakarta can become one of the world's global cities, serving it is serving global needs. This is our challenge now," he said. .
