Attention! Kelimutu National Park Closed For 2 Days Due To Bad Weather

JAKARTA - The Kelimutu National Park (TN) Tourism Area in Ende Regency is temporarily closed due to bad weather in the area.

Head of the Kelimutu National Park Center Hendrikus Rani Siga, contacted by ANTARA from Kupang, Thursday, January 27, said that the temporary closure would only last for two days.

"So it's only valid for two days, starting Thursday (27/1) today until Friday (28/1) tomorrow," he said via WhatsApp short message.

He explained that the closure of the area took into account the letter from the Deputy for Meteorology, BMKG on January 26, 2022 yesterday regarding the Weather Early Warning, due to the presence of tropical cyclone seeds of 91 W in the Sulu Sea.

Which can increase the potential for rain cloud growth around the cyclone seed area, one of which is in the Kelimutu National Park area which leads to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

Hendrikus said that his party did not want something undesirable to happen when tourists traveled to that location because of the bad weather that occurred at that location.

Moreover, said based on these conditions and observations of officers in the field, there has been rain accompanied by strong winds in the Kelimutu TN area, which has the potential to endanger the safety of visitors.

He said that the closure of the tourist area was only valid until Friday (28/1) tomorrow. But it will continue to see the conditions on the ground.

If the weather has improved, it will be reopened, but if not, it will be closed again while looking at the conditions on the ground.
