MATARAM - The Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, has allocated a budget of around Rp. 10 billion to improve and maintain the quality of roads that are considered prone to landslides.

Head of the Mataram City Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) Miftahurrahman said the Rp10 billion budget was sourced from a special allocation fund (DAK) and planned for three points of road repair activities.

"The first is Baiturrahman Street, the side road of North Jangkuk River, Dasan Sari Village and the southern part of Dasan Agung Village. We are still formulating the real total of the road display to be repaired," he said in Mataram, Antara, Wednesday, January 26.

He said, with this budget, the first regular DAK package activities were used on Jalan Baiturrahman in the form of improving road quality by Rp5.3 billion.

The second is the maintenance activities for the road side of the Jangkuk Utara River, Dasan Sari Village, amounting to Rp. 4.1 billion and the third is for the maintenance of the road on the southern side of Jangkuk River, Dasan Agung Village, which is Rp. 650 million.

"The maintenance of the Jangkuk riverside road is considered urgent because the road conditions on the left and right of the river are prone to landslides, especially in the southern part," he said.

The condition of the landslide-prone road on the edge of the Jangkuk River, Dasan Sari Village, occurred at several points with the length of damage varying from 10-50 meters.

To prevent things that are not desirable, local residents took the initiative to install police lines and signs with improvised tools so that people can be careful when crossing the road.

"The condition of roads in the area has decreased and is cracked, so it is feared that it will trigger landslides when there is an increase in the volume of river water," he said.

To carry out the three packages of road quality improvement activities, the PUPR Service is currently preparing tender documents.

"The DAK allocation for road quality improvement in 2022 is IDR 10 billion, up from IDR 8 billion in 2021 and only for one activity, namely improving the quality of the Senggale Wire road," he said.
