Coinciding With Valentine's Day, PAN Scores Determination Of The 2024 Election Is Quite Good

JAKARTA - The National Mandate Party (PAN) faction welcomes the determination of the schedule for the General Election (Pemilu) which will be on February 14, 2024. This is an agreement between Commission II of the DPR, the government and the KPU.

A member of Commission II of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia from the PAN faction, Guspardi Gaus, joked that the determination of the voting day was appropriate because it coincided with Valentine's Day, also known as Valentine.

"Coinciding with Valentine's Day is quite good," said Guspardi to reporters, Tuesday, January 25.

Apparently not because it coincided with Valentine's Day, Guspardi said, the election on February 14, 2024 was solely due to careful consideration from the KPU, Bawaslu, DKPP, and also the government.

"The consideration is not about that but a rational agreement to avoid intersect with the implementation of the Simultaneous Pilkada which will also be held in the same year, namely November 27, 2024," he explained.

With the agreement on the schedule for the 2024 Simultaneous General Election and Regional Head Elections, continued Guspardi, election organizers have sufficient space to carefully prepare each stage of the General Election and Regional Head Election.

"We hope that the election organizers (KPU, Bawaslu and DKPP) can formulate the agenda and stages of the General Election and Pilkada while still being guided by the principles of effectiveness and efficiency, both from the preparation of each stage and the budget," he said.

The question of the stages and period of the campaign will be discussed in the next meeting with the government and the KPU.

"Furthermore, it will be discussed and further deepened by Commission II in the next meeting with the government and election organizers," concluded the member of the DPR RI Baleg.
