KALTENG - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Central Kalimantan Province in 2021-2022 will organize a cadre of ulama which is one of the flagship programs.

"The initial step for recruiting scholars is MUI in collaboration with the Palangka Raya State Islamic Institute," said Central Kalimantan MUI chairman Khairil Anwar in Palangka Raya, Antara, Sunday, January 23.

In this cadre program there were 10 students selected through selection and they were placed in Rusunawa IAIN Palangka Raya.

The selected students in addition to undergoing lecture activities, also receive education or guidance on the clergy provided by the scholars and religious leaders.

"So we hope that after gaining knowledge, they will not only get a bachelor's degree but also religious knowledge," he explained at the MUI regional coordination meeting in Central Kalimantan 2022.

This cadre is in line with the flagship program of the central MUI, so it is hoped that moderate scholars will be born later.

Khairil Anwar explained, through this program, it is hoped that future scholars will not only tend to be textual but also contextualist, namely not only mastering religion but also about sociology, anthropology and others.

Meanwhile, the Acting Regional Secretary for Central Kalimantan, Nuryakin, said the provincial government would continue to support and synergize with the MUI in implementing regional development, including the success of MUI's programs.

According to him, MUI is a very noble forum, because since its establishment it has been a forum for scholars, to Muslim scholars.

"With this broad role, I believe MUI will continue to contribute to the development of the nation, state and region," he said.

In addition, MUI is also expected to participate in solving various problems that are not only faced by the people but by the Indonesian people and nation as a whole.

"MUI as the khadamul ummah, what the community really looks forward to is the exemplary and wisdom of the ulama in responding to the problems of the people," he hoped.
