State Loss Rp1.3 Billion Involved In Corruption Of Panwaslu Grant Fund, North Halmahera Kejari Detains 2 Suspects

MALUKU - The District Attorney's Office (Kejari) of North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku (Malut) has arrested two suspects in the alleged corruption case of grant funds from the 2015-2016 Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu).

The Head of the North Halmahera District Attorney's Office, Agus Wirawan, said that his party had named the suspects with the initials SH and GM because they were suspected of committing a criminal act of corruption in the misappropriation of grant funds from the local Panwaslu committee.

Agus said the state losses caused by these two actors amounted to Rp. 1.3 billion. Currently, the two suspects have been detained by the North Halmahera Kejari for 20 days starting last Friday, January 21.

"The investigative team has detained the two suspects after the team managed to collect at least two pieces of evidence and state losses," he said in a written statement, Antara, Sunday, January 23.

In addition, he said, the detention of the two suspects was to complete the administration of the case files, so that the files would later be transferred to court.

Last Friday, the Investigative Team, led by the Head of Special Investigations Division, Eka Yakob Hayer, detained SH and GM after the Head of the North Halmahera District Prosecutor's Office named the two suspects.

Both of them are suspected of committing the Corruption Crime of Misappropriation of Grant Funds for the Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) of North Halmahera Regency for the 2015 and 2016 Fiscal Years with a state loss of Rp. 1.3 billion.

The Investigative Team has detained the two suspects after the team managed to collect at least two pieces of evidence and the resulting state losses.

Furthermore, the suspects will be detained for the next 20 days to complete the administration of the case files so that they can be immediately transferred to trial.
