Police Arrest Grandfather Of Suspect Of Immorality With 4-Year-Old Child In Tasikmalaya

JAKARTA - The Tasikmalaya City Police have arrested an old man who was reported to have immorally treated his neighbor, a 4-year-old child, in Tasikmalaya City, West Java. As a result, the suspect carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

"The four-year-old girl victim, suspect (initials) E, aged 76, is her neighbor," said Tasikmalaya City Police Chief AKBP Aszhari Kurniawan as quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 23.

He said that the immoral case was successfully revealed based on public reports on January 18, 2022, and his actions took place on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the victim's house, Tasikmalaya City.

The police, he said, immediately moved quickly to carry out an investigation until finally they managed to arrest a grandfather who was suspected of committing immorality to the four-year-old child.

The suspect was immediately taken to the Tasikmalaya City Police Headquarters to undergo further legal examination regarding his immoral act.

"This is still under investigation, because there are several testimonies that we will investigate, we are still digging for other information," said the Chief of Police.

He revealed that the suspect's confession started with going to the victim's house, then seeing the victim sleeping, then committing inappropriate acts against girls.

The action, said the Chief of Police, was carried out because the victim's house was quiet, her parents were away at work, but her twin brother was aware of her actions and finally reported it to the police.

"This is known to his twin brother," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was held in the detention cell of the Tasikmalaya City Police Headquarters and charged with Article 82 Paragraph 1 of the Law on Child Protection with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

The police chief appealed to the public to increase supervision of their daughters to avoid the dangers of sexual crimes.

"You have to avoid the opportunity, this is also the grandfather because there is an opportunity," said the Police Chief.
