Breaking News! For The First Time, The Ministry Of Health Announces Two Cases Of Omicron Died

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded two cases of COVID-19 variant B.1.1.529 or Omicron died. The death of the Omicron case in Indonesia is the first time this has occurred.

"One case was a local transmission, died at the Sari Asih Hospital in Ciputat and the other was an overseas traveler, died at the Sulianti Saroso Hospital," said Director of Prevention and Control of Directly Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi in a short message to VOI, Saturday, 22 January.

Nadia said that the two Omicron cases that died were comorbid or had congenital diseases.

"When confirmed positive, both cases of Omicron experienced severe symptoms and shortness of breath," said Nadia.

Meanwhile, since the first findings on December 15, 2021 until now, there have been 1,161 cases of Omicron in Indonesia.

Furthermore, the government is currently allowing Omciron patients to self-isolate at home. However, not all Omicron patients can self-isolate. There are a number of conditions, namely, Omicron cases that are allowed to be isoman are classified as asymptomatic (OTG) and mild symptoms.

Then, they must be 45 years of age and under, have no comorbidities, be able to access telemedicine or other health services, and commit to remaining isolated before being allowed out.

Meanwhile, in terms of housing and other supporting equipment, the patient must be able to live in a separate room, even better if the floor is separate, there is a bathroom in the house separate from the other occupants of the house, and can access a pulse oximeter.

If an Omicron patient does not meet clinical and home requirements, the patient must be isolated in a centralized isolation facility. During isolation, the patient must be under the supervision of the local health center or task force.
