One Person In Cimahi Confirmed Omicron

BANDUNG - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Cimahi City, West Java noted that one person in the area was declared exposed to the Omicron variant of COVID-19 based on the test results.

The Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Cimahi City Health Office, Muhamad Dwihadi Isnalini, said the person exposed to Omicron was a household assistant (ART). Allegedly, the ART was exposed due to local transmission.

"The person concerned has symptoms of fever, cough and runny nose. We have traced and tested close contacts," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 21.

Dwihadi said that the first person exposed to COVID-19 was the employer of the ART. However, the employer of the ART was detected positive for COVID-19 when he was out of town.

However, so far the employer of the ART has not been confirmed to be exposed to Omicron because they are still waiting for the results of the Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) test.

"His employer is also positive and his WGS is being examined, waiting for the results," said Dwihadi.

It was confirmed that the ART who became the Omicron patient had been isolated in the hospital.

It continues to carry out epidemiological investigations to find the source of transmission.

"Of the four people at home, two were positive. Of the two positive, one was symptomatic after the WGS test the result was positive for Omicron," he said.

Therefore, Dwihadi appealed to the people of Cimahi City not to be careless in carrying out the health protocols.

According to him, a person's immunity will also be stronger if they have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

"So let's get vaccinated for those who haven't, for those who are complete, continue with booster vaccines," he said.
