Overflowing River Water, Hundreds Of Houses In Mejobo Kudus Are Flooded

KUDUS - At least 200 housing units in the Mejobo area, Kudus Regency, Central Java, were inundated by floods due to high-intensity rainfall which caused the water discharge in the Piji and Mrisen rivers to overflow into residential areas.

The flood which submerged about 200 houses of residents occurred in Mejobo District. "About 200 units of houses that were flooded were scattered in Golantepus Village in RW 2, which happens to be a low-lying area and is flanked by two rivers, namely the Piji and Mrisen rivers," said Mejobo Sub-district Head Aan Fitriyanto when met at the flood site in Golantepus Village, Mejobo District, Kudus, reported by Antara, Thursday, January 20.

This is because the two rivers experienced severe sedimentation, as a result, during the high rainfall that occurred on Wednesday, January 19 night until today, January 20, the two rivers were unable to accommodate the water, so that it overflowed into residential areas, while the river embankments were still safe.

The height of the inundation in each resident's house was between 30-40 centimeters when the flood began on Thursday, January 20 in the morning, while at 08.30 WIB the results of observations in the field began to decrease.

Besides occurring in Golantepus Village, the flood also hit Mejobo Village, although not so widely because of its location in the lowlands, so that every high rainfall it is often flooded.

Residents' houses located in the lowlands were inundated quite badly, including the house belonging to Sukarno, a resident of Golantepus Village RT 3 RW 2, which experienced puddles of water up to a height of 50 cm.

"Knowing the high intensity of the rain, I didn't sleep last night to anticipate. On Wednesday, January 19 at 23.30 WIB, I evacuated all my valuables to a safe place, because water began to enter the settlement," said Sukarno. , January 20 in the morning there really was a flood and it entered his house. Luckily all valuables have been evacuated to a safe place.

"It's just that our family cannot cook because there is no clean water supply that can be used for cooking," he said.

Khambali, another resident of Golantepus Village, admitted that he had been on standby since last night, so valuables had also been evacuated to a safe place.

Access roads to villages in Golantepus and Mejobo villages are also flooded with varying heights. Some of them cannot be passed by motorized vehicles, because they are quite deep. However, some of them can still be passed by motorized vehicles.
