200 Out Of 447 Villages In North Kalimantan Are Still Underdeveloped, The Rest Are Independent, Developing And Progressing

KALTARA - Head of the North Kalimantan Village Community Empowerment Service (DPMD), Edy Suharto, said that of the 447 villages in North Kalimantan (Kaltara) there are more than 200 villages that are still in disadvantaged status.

"While the rest are in the status of independent villages, developing villages and developed villages, which of course have a much smaller number than underdeveloped villages," said Edy in Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 18.

Of course, this is a shared responsibility how the villages that are left behind can turn into developing, advanced and independent villages. Edy added that the collaboration carried out by the provincial government, regional governments, companies and academics is expected to help his party in developing rural communities in Kaltara.

"Today we are trying to make a breakthrough by inviting companies to jointly build villages and improve the welfare of the people in the village," he said.

Meanwhile, the Governor of North Kalimantan, Zainal Arifin Paliwang, when opening a synergy meeting, supported the breakthrough made by the DPMD in embracing government partners in order to improve the quality and quality of life of rural communities.

"Rural development and empowerment of rural communities must be carried out while taking into account the goals of sustainable village development," said Zainal.

This refers to the general guidelines for village development and village community empowerment which are regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Villages.

Zainal also hopes that through this collaboration he can form and activate Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDES), so that villages can have profits to build villages independently.

"By accelerating village development through the partnership pattern of Kaltara Province, hopefully we can achieve the ideals of realizing a Changed, Advanced and Prosperous Kaltara," he said.

Currently, the DPMD has also given birth to innovations in the implementation of collaboration for village development, one of which is the innovation of Revitalization, Integration, and the Integrated Service Post for Kaltara and the innovation of Village Development Collaboration Based on the Developing Village Index.
