Golkar Will Fire The Chairman Of DPRD-Faction Who Defected In Pilkada

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hatarto said that his party would impose sanctions on DPRD leaders, factions, or cadres who defected from support for other pairs in the 2020 simultaneous regional elections.

"Earlier I said inside that the cadres that we have carried out in the regional elections then have regional leaders, DPRD leaders, or factions with different support, we will raise them first," said Airlangga, quoted by Antara, Monday, August 31.

In fact, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy does not hesitate to replace DPRD leaders or faction leaders who do not work or support other candidates who are not nominated by the Golkar Party in the 2020 Pilkada.

"When playing football, there is a bench to spare, then a new player will be replaced. Later from the bench, he can be returned to the field or ordered to enter the locker room. So, this is a firm stance from the DPP," he said in a written statement.

However, Airlangga claims that Golkar cadres are solid in supporting the candidate pairs who will be nominated in the upcoming regional elections. Airlangga said, the measure of the success of a political party is victory. Moreover, the 2020 Pilkada Simultaneously will be very strategic when faced with the 2024 Election.

"The meaning of victory for the Golkar Party is very important and strategic. Golkar is targeting 60 percent of victories in the 2020 Pilkada," he said.

Airlangga also reminded that in the COVID-19 pandemic, the election campaign pattern must be in a different way. He also asked his cadres to avoid direct meetings and to gather with many people.
