A Number Of Villages In Pasuruan Were Submerged By Floods

PASURUAN - A number of villages in Pasuruan Regency, East Java were flooded due to overflowing of the Rejoso River and small rivers in Grati and Winongan Districts.

Head of BPBD Pasuruan Regency, Ridwan Harris, said that the floods that hit the area varied in heights from 40 centimeters to 1.5 meters.

"At least a dozen villages were flooded as high as 40 centimeters to 1.5 meters. The flood submerged houses and public facilities," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 18.

He said that in Grati Subdistrict, there were seven villages that were flooded, namely Kewadung Kulon, Kedawung Wetan, Trewung, Plososari to Kalipang. In Winongan District, flooding occurred in Winongan Lor, Winongan Kidul, Prodo and Bandaran villages. Meanwhile, in Rejoso Subdistrict, floods occurred in Toyaning, Sadengrejo and Patuguran villages.

"Floods have also inundated the northern coast of Jalan Raya Ngopak. However, traffic from Probolinggo-Pasuruan is still flowing smoothly," he said.

He said that his party together with the Social Service were preparing packaged rice to be distributed to residents affected by the flood.

"We prepared 2,000 packs this morning," said Ridwan Harris.

Meanwhile, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that a number of areas in East Java still have the potential for hydrometeorological disasters due to high rainfall.

BMKG data and information coordinator Juanda Teguh Tri Susanto said, be aware of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds for a moment.

Among them are Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto City, Mojokerto Regency, Gresik, Lamongan, Bojonegoro, Jombang, Nganjuk, Madiun Regency, Madiun City, Ngawi, Magetan, Tulungagung, Blitar Regency, Blitar City, Kediri Regency, Kediri City, Malang Regency. , Pasuruan Regency, Pasuruan City," he said.
