North Penajam Paser Regent's Office Searched, KPK Looking For Traces Of Corruption From Abdul Gafur Mas'ud

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that its investigators conducted searches at a number of locations in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan. Including, searching the office of the inactive North Penajam Paser Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said the search was carried out today or Monday, January 17 and is still ongoing.

"The investigative team has started a forced search of several locations in the North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, including the regent's office," Ali told reporters, Monday, January 17.

During the search, Ali said his party was looking for evidence related to the alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services as well as licensing arrangements that ensnared Abdul Gafur.

"Currently, the team is still working to find and collect various evidences to support the investigation process. We will inform you about the progress of this activity later," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK appointed Abdul Gafur with the Plt Secretary of North Penajam Paser Regency, Mulyadi; Head of Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of North Penajam Paser Regency Edi Hasmoro; and Head of the North Penajam Paser District Education, Youth and Sports Office, Jusman, and the Balikpapan Democratic Party DPC General Treasurer, Nur Afifah Balqis as bribe recipients.

Meanwhile, as a suspect for giving bribes, the KPK has named a private party named Achmad Zudi. These six people were named as suspects in alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services as well as granting permits in North Penajam Paser Regency.

Their determination was initiated by a sting operation (OTT) which was held on Wednesday, January 12 in two locations, namely Jakarta and North Kalimantan. From the results of the action, the KPK also confiscated Rp1 billion and Rp447 million in Balqis's account.
