Lemkapi Believes National Police Chief Firmly Takes Action Against Members Of Bribery Recipients

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Institute for Strategic Studies (Lemkapi) Edi Hasibuan believes that National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will remain firm in taking action against police officers in Medan, North Sumatra, if they are found to be involved in bribery in drug cases.

The National Police Chief is said to be always committed and will never change to take firm action against any unscrupulous officials who are proven to be related to drug bribery cases.

"If they are proven to have accepted bribes in drug cases, they will definitely be removed and legally processed," said Edi, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 16.

This police law expert from Bhayangkara University, Jakarta, said that during almost one year in office, the National Police Chief has never given a place to members, even high-ranking officers, who abuse their authority and commit irregularities.

"If there are unscrupulous police officers involved in protecting and even profiting from drug syndicates, of course it is very dangerous for the Polri institution and the community," he said.

He also believes the North Sumatran Police Chief Inspector General RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak will also take firm action against his staff who violate the rules in the field.

"The North Sumatran Police Chief is also very consistent in supporting the National Police Chief's program to create a predictive, responsible, transparent and fair or precise Police," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Ahmad Sahroni supported the National Police's Propam Division to investigate the truth of the alleged bribery information.

Sahroni said the act of accepting bribes was a form of insecurity for the position given, especially if it was true that the bribe received was from a drug dealer.
