Gus Yahya Announces The Composition Of PBNU Management, Female For The First Time Entering, 'This Is The First Time After Turning 96 Years Old'

JAKARTA - General Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf has just announced the composition of the new 2020-2027 PBNU. There were a number of surprises in the composition of this board, one of which was to accommodate women.

Gus Yahya said, the posture of this board composition is a combination of regional, gender and political orientation.

"From a regional point of view, all regions are represented in the NU PB which has an archipelago look," said Gus Yahya in a virtual press conference, Wednesday, January 12.

The surprise was, Gus Yahya included women from among the board members.

"This is the first time, after 96 years of NU's age, women are accommodated in the daily composition of NU PB," he said.

He said, NU would take an equal distance from various angles of political interests. The trick is to accommodate various elements of interest from a political point of view so that they can control each other.

"So that the distance between NU and various political parties remains the same," he explained.

Gus Yahya chose Saifullah Yusuf as secretary general and appointed Mardani H Maming as PBNU's general treasurer.

The name of Khofifah Indar Parawansa, who is now the Governor of East Java, is also the chairman of PBNU.
