KEBUMEN - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo attended a virtual meeting chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Tuesday (11/1) night. Although the signal is difficult because it is located in a mountainous village, precisely in Gunungsari Village, Karanggayam, Kebumen, Ganjar still attends the meeting with makeshift equipment.

Ganjar is currently in a series of regional work visits to Kebumen. At around 19.30 WIB, Ganjar departed from the resident's house to Gunungsari Village Hall. The meeting was held there, because at the residents' houses where they slept, the signal did not support it.

The meeting discussed regional readiness in dealing with the emergence of the Omicron variant of the corona virus that was spreading. A number of regions conveyed their readiness to Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B Pandjaitan.

"We are all asked to be vigilant regarding omicron and earlier in the data the regents of all Java representing several regions of Central Java, East Java, West Java were on standby including DKI, of course," said Ganjar after the meeting.

Ganjar said, Central Java remains on standby even though the entrance and exit for people to Java Island is through East Java and DKI Jakarta. Ganjar emphasized that socialization efforts should not be slack.

"There's no need to panic with Omicron, but please keep the process strictly and we always provide continuous evaluation," he said.

Second, said Ganjar, acceleration of vaccination. So that the immune system is guaranteed and residents are protected from the inside.

"In Karanggayam and in Kebumen, it turns out that the village is cool, it can get 86 percent of the vaccine, that's pretty good. They are pursuing it and I think vaccination is also part of what we must accelerate,” he said.

In addition, Ganjar said that until today, the Omicron variant has not been found in the addition of Covid-19 cases in Central Java.

"It seems that many have tested positive for Covid but we haven't found the Omicron variant, with our WGS (Whole Genome Sequence) tool, we always carry out continuous testing and haven't found anything yet," he said.

In the meeting, Ganjar also had time to convey to the forum related to the implementation of the Umrah worship which will be held again by the Ministry of Religion. The reason is that the Omicron variant is often found from foreign travelers.

"I propose that because many will go in and out of Indonesia, let alone those who go abroad, we will really oversee this Umrah later. So that when they go home they stay healthy, that's traffic that I think we have to watch out for together," he said.
