Mustofa Nahrawardaya's Story, In The 70s Diligently Taking Rp100 From Offerings, Former PSI Spokesperson: Very Proud To Be A Thief Since Child

JAKARTA - Social media activist Mustofa Nahrawardaya frankly shared his experience with offerings after the case of a man kicking and throwing offerings belonging to residents in Lumajang, East Java went viral.

As a child, it turned out that Mostofa liked to comb the offerings that people had placed and took money in the offerings. Mostofa was born in Klaten, Central Java, on July 12, 1972.

"In the past, when I was a child, in the village there used to be offerings on big trees. I was diligent in combing them. To take 100 silver coins which are usually in the offerings," said Mustofa via his personal Twitter, @TofaTofa_id seen Tuesday, 11 January.

Not only in one location, this action was carried out by Mustofa at several points where offerings were placed.

"So if you get 10 places, you get Rp. 1000. The more offerings, the more fun. But that was in the 70s," said Mostofa.

Of course, Mustofa's confession provoked a response from netizens. One of them came from the @MARQU**** account. According to him, the Rp 100 money in that year was of great value.

"In the 70s, Rp. 100 big, why did you lie," quipped the former PSI spokesman.

There was also a response from the Executive Director of the Center for Youth and Population Research (CYR), Dedek Prayudi. Dedek scathingly replied to Mustafa's tweet and wrote, "So proud to have been a thief since childhood."

Previously, a viral video of a person wearing a black vest cursing the use of offerings in the Mount Semeru area, Lumajang Regency. In the video, he threw offerings in front of him, and some were even kicked. The man's actions have received criticism from various circles.

Finally, the East Java Regional Police even formed a team to pursue the perpetrators of this kick. "We did not only go to the NTB (West Nusa Tenggara) area, but in several places suspected of being the location of the perpetrators," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 11.

Despite pursuing and investigating, the police are still having trouble revealing the identity of the perpetrator.

"Still in the search, have not been found. We can not update the person concerned (the perpetrator) yet. Because this is still under police investigation, later when we have found it, it will be submitted," he said.
