BANYUMAS - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Banyumas Police, Central Java, revealed a theft case involving a 17-year-old teenager.
The perpetrator with the initials DK stole agricultural equipment belonging to victim Daryanto (40) in Grumbul Cikalong, Cilangkap Village, Gumelar District, Banyumas Regency, on January 2, 2022.
"The location of the theft occurred in a hut on the edge of a rice field," said Head of the Satreskrim of the Banyumas Police Kompol Berry in Purwokerto, Banyumas, Antara, Monday, January 10.
According to him, the victim lost a Honda water pump engine, a hoe, sickle, and a machete which were stored in a hut on the edge of a rice field. The total loss to the victim was IDR 4.5 million. "From the results of the investigation, we managed to secure a child with the initials DK, aged 17 years and 9 months, a resident of Cilacap Regency. He was arrested in Cilangkap Village, Gumelar District," he said.
During the examination, he said, DK admitted that he and one of his colleagues had committed the theft by destroying the fence of the victim's hut. The stolen goods which are recognized as personal property are then sold by the perpetrators to the workshop.
"During the examination, it was also revealed that DK was a recidivist in a theft case with a weight who had served a sentence of 8 months in Cilacap," he said.
Related to the case, Kasatreskrim said that his party had detained DK, while another perpetrator was still being chased.
Evidence in the form of a Honda brand water pump, a hoe, a sickle, and a stolen machete and a Scoopy motorcycle used as a vehicle by the perpetrators have been secured.
"In order to account for his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison," said Berry.
