Tanjungpinang Police Thwarts Circulation Of 1 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Malaysia

TANJUNGPINANG - The Tanjungpinang Resort Police (Polres), Riau Islands (Kepri), thwarted the circulation of 1 kilogram methamphetamine and 27 ecstasy pills from Malaysia.

The police arrested three perpetrators in the case, namely two men and one woman. However, the police have not revealed the identities of the three.

"We are still carrying out further development. The identities of the perpetrators will be announced at a later time," said Tanjungpinang Police Narcotics Head AKP Ronny Burungudju, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 7.

Ronny said the three perpetrators were arrested in different areas in the Tanjungpinang area, yesterday.

Initially the police arrested a woman along with evidence of one ecstasy pill. When interrogated by the police, he admitted that he got the illicit goods from a man.

Armed with information from the woman, the police managed to arrest the man suspected of being a drug courier.

"From the results of the search, we confiscated eight packages of methamphetamine and two packs of ecstasy pills," said Ronny.

To the police, said Ronny, the man admitted to bringing narcotics from Malaysia, then some were handed over to another man suspected of being a drug dealer.

From the results of further investigations, the police again arrested the suspected drug dealer, precisely in the Protected Forest area, Tanjungpinang.

"During the search, evidence was found of 1 kilogram of crystal methamphetamine and three ecstasy pills," he said.

Ronny said the three perpetrators were suspected of being an international narcotics syndicate. The three actors have different roles.

"The three of them are being investigated intensively to capture their network," said Ronny.
