BANDUNG - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil launched the Jaramba application, a digital platform that will make it easier for people to travel by public transportation in the city of Bandung.

Jaramba itself is a website-based application that integrates intermodal connectivity, shows "real-time" information and "cashless" payments.

Currently, the modes of public transportation that support the application are city transportation and Damri buses in Greater Bandung.

"With the Jaramba application, residents can find out before going which route they want, take only one type of angkot or have to change angkot, this is known before leaving," said Ridwan Kamil, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 7.

There are many conveniences obtained when using Jaramba. Starting from knowing the current position of the nearest transportation mode, providing several choices of available transportation modes, to providing information on travel routes, distances, and travel times.

"While waiting, this application will inform you where you have been waiting. Unlike the manual method, you can wait a long time," said Kang Emil.

"Whether it's between cities, between provinces, it's only a matter of time that all driving matters will be full digital starting from the city level," added Kang Emil.

He said that the current digitalization era forces people to change their old, conventional habits. Not only in buying and selling, public transportation services also have to use an online system.

"It's time to move to digital. Not only buying and selling, transportation must also be online," he said.
