Banda Aceh SAR Evacuates Bangladeshi Citizens With Hemorrhoids In The Middle Of The Sea

ACEH - The Banda Aceh SAR team evacuated a Bangladeshi citizen who was also a crew member of a Singapore-flagged tanker due to illness in the sewer.

The head of the Banda Aceh SAR Office, Budiono, in Banda Aceh, said Friday that the Bangladeshi citizen who was evacuated was a man named Parvez Alam.

"The evacuation took place in the waters of the Bengal Strait, near Pulau Weh, Sabang City. The Bangladeshi national was evacuated because of hemorrhoids," he said.

Budiono said the evacuation was using the SAR ship KN Kresna 232. Parvez Alam was a member of the MT Concerto tanker which sailed from the Suez Canal to Singapore.

The cruise from Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh, where KN Kresna rests to the evacuation point, takes about 45 minutes. The evacuation took less than an hour by implementing strict COVID-19 prevention health protocols.

"After the victim was successfully evacuated to the SAR ship, then he was taken to Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh. Then, the victim was taken by ambulance to Zainoel Abidin Hospital," Budiono said.

Budiono said the medical evacuation operation involved other agencies, such as Immigration, Customs and Excise, Indonesian Navy, Port Health Office, harbormaster and others.

The weather at the time of the evacuation, he said, was sunny, the sea conditions were calm, the wind was blowing from the southwest at a speed of seven knots or nautical miles per hour.

"With the evacuation of the Bangladeshi national, the search and rescue operation is stopped. All personnel involved in the evacuation are returned to their respective agencies or work units," Budiono said.
