GORONTALO - The Gorontalo Provincial Government has tightened health protocols at Jalaluddin Airport after there was information about the entry of a new variant of COVID-19, Omicron, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Tangerang, Banten, some time ago.

"After hearing this, I and my forkopimda friends took quick steps, starting today we will tighten the progress," said Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie during a visit to Jalaluddin Airport in Gorontalo, Antara, Thursday, January 6.

He explained that the tightening of procedures was not only for passengers entering and leaving the airport, but also for all officers, from cleaning personnel to porters to employees.

"All of us are tightening the process. All officers at the airport are required to do PCR, even though they don't go anywhere while they are on duty at the airport. Likewise, passengers are required to have PCR and most importantly have vaccines," he said.

To optimize the tightening process, his party will require the application of the PeduliLindung application for air, sea, office transportation users, including shopping places in Gorontalo.

"We are also committed to using PeduliLindung and have made a governor's regulation for that. Now that it is at the Ministry of Home Affairs, we will use it as a legal umbrella to implement tightening at airports and seaports. and other entrances," he added. The provincial government also held a mass PCR test for 160 officers at the airport today.

The number reached around 500 people, because government officials and ASN from the relevant agencies also underwent the same test at that location.

The governor's visit at the airport was accompanied by the Gorontalo Deputy Chief of Police, Head of the Gorontalo Binda, the Gorontalo Provincial Secretary, Chairman of the DPRD, Head of the Gorontalo High Court, Head of Korem Section, Danlanal, as well as several related OPD leaders.
