SURABAYA - The implementation of 100 percent face-to-face learning (PTM) for elementary schools (SD) and junior high schools (SMP) in Surabaya, East Java, begins Monday, January 10 next week.
"So, at this initial stage, the mechanism is 50 percent of the first shift and 50 percent of the second shift, so it's still 100 percent," said Head of the Surabaya City Education Office Yusuf Masruh as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 6.
According to him, PTM in the first week is divided into two shifts, namely the first 50 percent shift and the second 50 percent shift according to the conditions of each school. This decision is based on the Joint Decree (SKB) of the 4 Ministers and also on the orders of the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi.
"Later, it will be evaluated related to the progress and readiness of the child, if the first week is good, then the next week there will be no more shifts, immediately enter 100 percent, all in the morning," he said.
Especially for elementary school shift 1 at 07.00-09.00 WIB, and shift 2 at 09.30-11.30 WIB. Then for junior high school shift 1 at 06.30-09.30 WIB, and shift 2 at 10.00-13.00 WIB. Meanwhile, for PAUD and TK, learning starts at 08.00-09.20 WIB.
"But this schedule must also adjust to the conditions of each school," he said.
According to Yusuf, when students come to school, they will have their body temperature checked with a thermogan, must wear a mask and wash their hands. In fact, he hopes that the school provides a transit room to regulate students who will enter and leave the classroom.
"So, when students arrive at school, have their temperatures checked and wash their hands, then enter the transit room, then the task force arranges for them to enter class so they don't gather together. When they go home, they leave the class waiting in the transit room, when their parents are waiting for them. The pick-up and drop-off was called and then went straight home, so there were no crowds. Now, for the parents, we have also prepared the PeduliLindung application at school," he said.
During the PTM, Yusuf ensured that he would synergize with various parties, starting from the school task force, the Tangguh Village Task Force which is around the school, and the task force in the village and sub-district.
Later, he continued, they would help direct and remind school children not to gather in groups, either when they enter school to class or when they leave school.
"With the strict procedures and the help of the task force, we hope that parents can entrust their children to attend PTM schools. So, we still ask for the person's approval. Even if there are still students who have not been able to take this PTM, then we will prepare hybrid learning," he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of PGRI Surabaya Achmad Suharto ensured that the teachers had prepared various things to welcome this 100 percent PTM. He also explained that later teachers would also take turns or picket as the COVID-19 task force in their respective schools.
"So, the task force changes, not from the students, but from the teachers and school employees. It's important to work together to keep children from crowding at school," said Surhato.
The head of the Surabaya Private Middle School Working Meeting (MKKS) Erwin Darmogo ensured that the school welcomed this 100 percent PTM. Because, this is what students and parents have been waiting for all this time.
"We are also ready for everything, both the facilities and infrastructure, including the arrangement of the benches so we can keep our distance. So, we are ready to do this 100 percent PTM," he said.
