In Palu, Vice President Instructs Local Government To Immediately Complete Huntap Land Claims

PALU - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin instructed the local government to immediately resolve the problem of permanent residential land claims (huntap) for 3,000 victims of natural disasters in Palu City, Sigi Regency, and Donggala.

"The settlement of the huntap land claim has reached 98 percent. It is estimated that it will be completed by the end of February," said Ma'ruf Amin during a press conference, at the Central Sulawesi Governor's Office after a limited meeting to discuss the completion of the post-disaster shelter development, in Palu, reported by Antara, Thursday, 6 January.

The vice president explained that until now the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction (rehab-recon) process was constrained by the problem of claims to land provided for the Tondo 2 Huntap location in Tondo Village, Mantikulore District, as well as plans to build a satellite city by the local city government.

He said, in order to support the construction of a satellite city, PUPR has expressed a willingness to prepare supporting facilities including road infrastructure, drainage and other public spaces in locations that are being relocated.

"If it is possible for Huntap Tondo 2 to be completed, then PUPR must move quickly. If the land claim does not find a solution, the solution is for the Palu survivors to choose the location of Huntap Tondo II to be relocated to Pombewe," said Ma'ruf. must be supported by all parties, so that the development process is not hampered, because there are still many affected people who do not yet have decent housing.

"We hope that this issue can be resolved soon, so that development activities are not hampered," the vice president added.

During the working visit, the Vice President had a number of important agendas, including a post-disaster rehabilitation-recon settlement meeting, a review of the temporary shelter at the relocation location of Huntap Tondo 1 and Huntap Tondo 2 location, accompanied by the Governor of Central Sulawesi, the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, the Head of the National Agency for Disaster Management. Disaster (BNPB), Deputy Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Deputy Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Mayor of Palu, and Regent of Sigi.
