Customs And Excise Prevents Rp906 Billion State Losses From Contraband

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Ministry of Finance managed to prevent potential state losses of Rp906.15 billion by carrying out

321 times of deterrence with an estimated value of Rp. 3.56 trillion in goods through the implementation of marine patrol activities throughout 2021.

Customs and Excise also prevented the entry of 1.6 tonnes of methampetamine, 30,000 ecstasy pills and 1,000 happy fives through sea operations over the past year.

"Customs maritime surveillance activities are proof of the government's seriousness in protecting and securing Indonesian waters from smuggling activities that are detrimental to the state," said Director of Communications and Guidance for DJBC Service Users Nirwala Dwi Heryanto in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, January 5.

Nirwal explained that last year his party carried out an independent and integrated marine patrol scheme known as the Sriwijaya Network (JS) and Wallacea Net (JW) which were divided into two periods in semester I and semester II.

Customs and Excise succeeded in preventing 16 times, among others, against the Tohor Jaya KLM transportation facility in the waters of Burung Island, Riau which was loaded with 17 kilograms of methampetamine type narcotics and 1,000 happy five pills.

"The items were wrapped in Chinese tea bags and put in gas cylinders to trick the officers," he said.

While operating with other schemes, Customs and Excise succeeded in preventing the Musfita KLM in Natuna waters containing about 200 tons of forest products in the form of rattan to be smuggled into Malaysia.

Customs and Excise also intercepted an Oskadon wooden ship loaded with around 200 kilograms of methampetamine, 200 thousand ecstasy pills and 47,500 happy five pills in the waters of East Aceh.

In addition to these items, the commodities that were successfully secured during the operation included baby lobster, textiles, forest products in the form of jigsaws and other mixed goods.

Not only that, Customs and Excise also coordinated sea patrol operations with other law enforcement officers (APH) with the results of the prevention with BNN, among others, against KLM Aisah 25 containing 89 kilograms of methampetamine-type narcotics in the waters of Donggala, West Sulawesi.

Furthermore, the synergy between Customs and the Police resulted in the prevention of SB Edward Blackbeard containing 107,328 kilograms of methampetamine in the waters of Nongsa, Riau Islands.

Customs and Excise also succeeded in preventing the Teman Setia KLM who was suspected of having committed violations in the field of fisheries and shipping in the waters of Okaba, Papua, which was subsequently handed over to the local PSDKP.
