6.265 Hectares Of Rice Farmers In Aceh Affected By Floods

ACEH - Aceh's Agriculture and Plantation Service (Distanbun) noted that an area of 6,265 hectares of community rice fields has been affected by floods that have hit a number of areas in Aceh since Friday, December 31 last week.

"As for the flood, there are 6,265 hectares of rice as of today, all of them are in eight districts/cities," said Head of the Aceh Distanbun Distanbun Cut Huzaimah in Banda Aceh, Wednesday.

Huzaimah said that the most widely affected rice fields were in East Aceh Regency covering 3,182 hectares, North Aceh 1,977 hectares, and Aceh Tamiang 639 hectares.

"Then, in Bireuen 146 hectares, Langsa City 286 hectares, and in other areas it is small," he said.

In addition to rice, said Huzaimah, a number of areas that were being nursed were also affected by an area of 2,618 hectares. The highest in North Aceh is 1,485 hectares.

Then, in Bireuen Regency 604 hectares, Lhokseumawe City 200 hectares, East Aceh 320 hectares, the rest in Aceh Besar two hectares and Pidie seven hectares.

Huzaimah conveyed, regarding this condition, her party immediately inspected the affected rice fields after the flood receded, and would channel pumps to draw water that was still stagnant.

"Regarding what is no longer possible, we will provide free seeds for the community. If there is land that cannot be saved anymore," he said. As for the plantation area, continued Huzaimah, currently it is still in the process of data collection. However, plantation crops are more resistant because they are tougher and taller.

"But the fastest we will process is rice, because this is related to food," said Huzaimah.

As is known, due to heavy rains that have hit a number of areas in Aceh since Friday (12/31/2021) it has resulted in flooding in several districts/cities in Aceh.

Flood conditions to this day have submerged a number of areas in North Aceh, East Aceh, Langsa, Aceh Tamiang, Southeast Aceh to Bener Meriah district.

To this day, tens of thousands of people from various areas have been forced to flee to other places, and the highest is from North Aceh, East Aceh and Aceh Tamiang.
