COVID-19 Update As Of January 5: 404 New Cases, Jakarta's Highest

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 285,144 specimens were examined with the result that there were 404 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,264,136 and active cases are 4,878," said Ministry of Health data, Wednesday, January 5.

Today's recovered cases increased by 180 cases, bringing the total to 4,115,149 recovered people. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 4 people and the total was 144,109 people.

The province with the highest new cases was DKI Jakarta with 259 cases and a total of 866,864 cases. Followed by West Java with 24 new cases with a total of 708,947 cases. Central Java has 24 new cases and a total of 486,968 cases. Then, Riau Islands with 16 new cases and a total of 54,377 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 71 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 28 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 11 recovered cases, and North Sumatra with an additional 9 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 64,422,368.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 0.12 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is 4,964 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

So far, 167.226,143 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 114,822,604 people have received the second dose of vaccination. While the third dose of vaccination was 1,295,326. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
