Allegedly Misunderstood, Brothers And Sisters In Makassar, East Jakarta, Beaten By Dozens Of Youths

JAKARTA - Marwan (23) and Ramdoni (25) experienced the beatings. Both of them were battered after being beaten by dozens of people at their house in RW 03, Cipinang Melayu Village, Makasar District, East Jakarta.

According to victim Ramdoni, the beating he experienced began when he and his sister were on their way home at around 03.00 WIB.

"So on the village road, the perpetrators rushed their motorbikes. So, my sister and I wanted to pass, when the incident happened, we both took motorbikes," said Ramdoni to reporters, Wednesday, January 5.

The two victims were polite by offering apologies when they were about to cross the perpetrator. They even wished them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

However, the perpetrators, who are known to be residents of the Cipinang Melayu Village, misunderstood, resulting in a dispute. The two victims were suddenly attacked by the perpetrator.

"The motorbike didn't crash, there was nothing. When I apologized and said Merry Christmas and New Year they suddenly attacked. My sister ran away to the house, they chased me," he said.

Ramdoni continued, the perpetrators came gradually to his house until there were about 20 people. Then they broke down the door of the victim's house until it was damaged and started beating again. Residents around the scene who heard the noise of the beating did not dare to help Titi's family because they were afraid of being targeted by the perpetrators.

When asking for help from residents, he was advised to contact the police, while the situation at the time of the incident did not allow this.

"The perpetrators came gradually, initially two, five, then five more to my house. The reason was a misunderstanding, I already apologized to them but they instead attacked and robbed," he said.

The victim and her parents reported the case to the Makassar Police Headquarters. The case is currently being handled by the Makassar Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
