JAKARTA - The findings of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta have reached 252 cases per day. The majority of cases are travelers from abroad.
Therefore, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked travelers who will enter Indonesia not to carry the corona virus, especially Omicron, while still implementing health protocols while abroad.
"We remind all citizens, be careful who travels, especially those who are abroad. So, those who are still abroad, please pay attention, don't take off your mask there, don't implement health protocols abroad, you will get Omicron later. Then enter Jakarta with Omicron," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Tuesday, January 4.
Riza said that of the total Omicron cases detected by genome sequencing, 239 were imported cases or foreign travelers and 13 other cases were infected from local transmission.
Currently, Jakarta is implementing PPKM Level 2 and has held face-to-face learning (PTM) with a capacity of 100 percent of students in schools.
To anticipate the continued spread of Omicron, Riza admitted that the DKI Provincial Government will coordinate with the central government regarding the possibility of special policies.
"Later we will continue to coordinate with the central government what special policies will be. In principle, we will follow the policies that will be taken by the center," said Riza.
Previously, the DKI Provincial Government revealed that there were 162 findings of Omicron cases in DKI Jakarta as of January 3. The majority of cases are foreign travelers. Meanwhile, six of the cases were infected from local transmission and had no history of going abroad.
The majority of Omicron cases found in Jakarta had no symptoms or OTG, while the rest had mild symptoms.
As long as they are positive, the Omicron case in Jakarta is undergoing isolation at the Kemayoran Athlete's Wisma, Sulianti Saroso Hospital, and the hotel that is being used as a place of isolation. However, they are not allowed to isolate in their respective homes.
