RIAU - A heroic action was carried out by the Head of the Rokan Hulu Police, AKBP Wimpiyanto, who was quick to help pregnant women in an immediate condition to give birth. In the midst of the flood, Wimpiyanto spurred his rubber boat so that his mother could get treatment from the medical team.

The incident took place on Saturday, January 1 at around 2:50 pm. For the help of the Chief of Police, Mrs. Iis Aprianti and her family thank you very much.

"My wife, Iis Aprianti, was about to give birth and two opened, suddenly at around 09.00 WIB our house was flooded," said Roni Siregar, Iis' husband, told reporters as quoted by Antara, Monday, January 3.

According to the local midwife, Roni Siregar, his wife will give birth on January 1. But until the day awaited, there is no sign of giving birth. Meanwhile, their house in Babussalam Village, Rambah has been hit by a flood of shipments in Padang Lawas, North Sumatra.

The family was confused because the water continued to rise and submerged all the houses on the Riau-Sumatera causeway. The family was surprised to see the Police Chief AKBP Wimpiyanto coming over.

"At that time, the Police Chief was monitoring the flood area alone. Then he came because he received news that his wife was about to give birth, he went straight home. The Police Chief asked my wife to be evacuated to the Rokan Hulu Hospital. However, the family asked to be taken to the village midwife who had examined Iis from the start. pregnancy," he said.

"When he saw a rubber boat near the house, he asked 'why are you here?' We answered because they wanted to give birth. Then he ordered them to evacuate immediately if it was not possible to use an inflatable boat, use his official car, then we said no, the car will be damaged, he replied that life is more important," he also said.

"So we said thank you for your help, sir. There's nothing wrong with the midwife here, because the midwife has checked from the beginning," said Roni.

Hearing this, Iis was finally evacuated to the village midwife using an inflatable boat by the Police Chief and his family. Evacuation began at around 14.50 WIB.

"The police chief is alone, there are no other members. Finally, the residents were brought to the midwife, he (the police chief) helped push the boat to the midwife's place," he also said.

At around 20.30 WIB after being evacuated, Iis finally gave birth by normal delivery at the practice of the midwife Lismarita Simpang Supra. The family said they were touched and appreciated after receiving direct assistance from the Head of Police.

"Since we were small until 2022, no top leadership at the Resort Police has ever dared to go down directly in the middle of a flood where vehicles can no longer pass. Yesterday he went down alone, without an aide," he said.

Police Chief Wimpiyanto said the flooding in Rokan Hulu was caused by heavy rains from the Padang Lawas area. The flood from above caused the water discharge in the Batang Lubuh River to overflow and caused a flood in Babusalam.

"Yesterday there were 1,223 families whose houses were flooded, including in Babussalam," said Wimpiyanto.

He said he was on patrol at the time. Meanwhile, other personnel are still distributing groceries to local residents. Currently the water conditions have receded.
