Police Investigate The Burning Case Of A Couple's House Accused Of Possessing Parakang Black Magic In Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi

KENDARI - The South Konawe Resort Police (Polres) is handling the case of burning the house of a married couple (couple) in Tanjung Tiram Village, North Moramo District, South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), which is accused of possessing parakang black magic.

Head of Public Relations of the South Konawe Police, AKP Muslimin Ganyu, said the house of a couple with the initials I (60) husband and WL (55) wife was burned by local residents because they were accused of having black magic.

"It has been handled by the North Moramo Police, currently members are investigating and examining witnesses," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 3.

After the fire, the couple immediately rushed to report the incident to the North Moramo Police and is currently being investigated.

"He is suspected of having black magic like parakang, if in Java it is said to be a kind of witchcraft," he said.

He explained the chronology of the house burning that occurred on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at around 05.00 WITA, where initially there was another resident known to be the deceased WDH (30) who died on December 30, 2021.

"It is suspected that the arson was carried out by a group of the family of the deceased WDH who died on Thursday, December 30, 2021. It is assumed that the cause of her family's death was a woman WL who had black magic (parakang)," he explained.

The wooden house owned by the husband and wife had been burned down and the loss was estimated at around Rp. 25 million.
