Yogyakarta Targets Vaccination For Children 6-11 Years Old To Be Completed In January

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government is trying to accelerate the completion of vaccinations for children aged 6-11 years which is expected to be completed or completed by the end of January 2022 for the first dose.

"When face-to-face learning is held again, it is possible to speed up the vaccination process," said Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi in Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday.

Heroe, who is also the Daily Chair of the Yogyakarta City COVID-19 Handling Task Force, ensures that the availability of vaccines for vaccinating children 6-11 years old, namely Sinovac, is sufficient.

"There are sufficient vaccines and we have coordinated with DIY which is ready to back up vaccines for children 6-11 years old," he said.

In addition to being carried out at schools through the nearest puskesmas, vaccination activities for children 6-11 years old can also be served at the Yogyakarta Vaccination Center located in XT-Square.

"It is also possible to start vaccinating children 6-11 years old for kindergarten students, if their age meets the requirements," he said.

Based on data from the Yogyakarta City Health Office until the end of December 2021, the achievement of child vaccination has reached around 30 percent of the total target of around 40,000 children.

Child vaccination activities in Yogyakarta have been carried out since mid-December and it is hoped that the first dose of vaccination for children can be completed by the end of January. The target of vaccination for children in the city of Yogyakarta is not only residents of the city of Yogyakarta but also students from outside the area who study in the city of Yogyakarta.

Until now, the Yogyakarta City Health Office has not received reports of post-immunization follow-up events (AEFI) experienced by children.
