MAKI: Attorney Pinangki Had an Office in a Burnt Building

JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), Boyamin Saiman, said that Attorney Pinangki Sirna Malasari previously had an office at the Attorney General's building which was on fire, Saturday, August 22.

"Pinangki had an office on the 3rd floor before being fired. The office was caught on fire yesterday,” Boyamin told reporters, Jakarta, Monday, August 24.

However, he is sure that the incident will not bring the case to a halt. He believes that the Attorney General's Office investigators will carry out the investigation properly. "The investigation won’t be interrupted," he said.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) AGO, Hari Setiyono, said that this fire wasn’t related to the case that was being handled by his party. Because the fire did not burn the room that held the case files for the Pinangki prosecutor.

"Suspicion is fine, but there must be a basis. There are no case files in the building. Suspicion will be slender if there is no evidence. I have repeatedly explained that the building is in the field of development, intelligence sector, the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General. (Meanwhile) Case files in the area of ​​pidsus are far enough. It’s safe, not burnt. General criminal acts, where in the field of general crimes, are quite far away," said Hari.

Hari said that no files or data were burned even though the Junior Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel) was on fire. The room is not designated as a data storage area.

"Intelligence data back-up is not available at that place. Director E, the intelligence administration, has two offices in the main building and Ceger. Intelligence must have worked if there were obstacles like this. So the archive data center is clear. All is safe, clean, safe," said Hari.

Meanwhile, Pinangki Sirna Malasari is currently named a suspect by the AGO in connection with the alleged gratification case of IDR 7 billion from Djoko Tjandra.

Attorney Pinangki is subject to article 5, paragraph 2 of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption. The maximum imprisonment in this article is five years.

The Pinangki's case began when a photo with Anita Kolopaking was circulated. From this inspection, it was proven that Pinangki had traveled abroad and was suspected of having a meeting with Djoko Tjandra.

The AGO Main Building fire is in the spotlight. It is because the Adhiyaksa corps is currently handling a major case. The police are still conducting investigations to find out the cause of the fire.

The police questioned dozens of witnesses. The witnesses were from internal to the AGO. This morning, the police had also investigated the crime scene (TKP).
