JAKARTA - During 2021, the East Jakarta Metro Police recorded as many as 50 criminal cases based on reports on (viral) social media reported.

Of the 50 cases, at least 38 were successfully uncovered by the East Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim). Meanwhile, 12 other viral cases are still under police investigation due to lack of evidence and other things.

"The percentage of disclosures in 2021 as much as 76 percent have been disclosed. One of the prominent viral cases is the criminal act of beating the victim which caused the victim to die," explained East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Erwin Kurniawan when confirmed by VOI, Saturday, January 1.

Meanwhile, the other 12 viral cases that have not been disclosed or are still under investigation, are due to a lack of evidence and witnesses, making it difficult to investigate the case.

"The initial identification problem was viral. The perpetrator was caught on CCTV but it was not clear (his characteristics). None of the witnesses saw him. In fact, the victim did not even pay attention to the characteristics of the perpetrator," he said.

However, the 12 viral cases that have not been disclosed remain the attention and attention of the East Jakarta Metro Police in early 2022 to immediately reveal the incident.

"But it is still our concern to uncover it," he said.

Constraints in the disclosure, continued the Police Chief, occurred due to several factors. Starting from the crime scene (TKP) and a series of other investigations.

"TKP when there is no evidence left at the TKP, it becomes an obstacle. Because in the evidence there must be witnesses, the results of the TKP and evidence. When these three are not fulfilled, it will be difficult for the officers," he said. .
