Jayapura Residents Celebrate New Year 2022 With Fireworks Party

JAYAPURA - Residents of Jayapura City, Papua welcomed the celebration of the turn of the New Year January 1, 2022 with fireworks and sounding fireworks, Saturday morning at 00.00 WIT.

Several residential areas in Jayapura, Entrop, Koraraja and Abepura seemed to be busy welcoming the turn of 2022 with various activities including playing trumpets, playing music and eating and drinking together with family.

"In the situation of the corona virus pandemic, we gathered with our families to celebrate the turn of the new year," said Sahman, a resident of Abepura, Jayapura City, as reported by Antara.

He admitted, the atmosphere of welcoming the New Year 2022 was still celebrated even if only with family and neighbors. A number of crowded places, such as the beach dock II, the Youtefa red bridge and the Hamadi beach location, were also seen by residents celebrating the turn of the year.

Hundreds of police and TNI officers were also seen taking part in securing the residents when they released 2021.

Previously, the Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Pol Gustav Urbinas alerted hundreds of police personnel to maintain security for the new year of 2022.

Until Saturday 00:35 WIT, the residents of Jayapura City were still sounding firecrackers and fireworks in the air celebrating the New Year's Eve party.
