BANDUNG - The Commander of the Siliwangi Regional Military Command (Pangdam) III, Maj. Gen. Agus Subianto, confirmed that he immediately dispersed the crowd of residents on Jalan Asia Afrika, Bandung City, West Java, which was celebrating New Year's Eve 2022.

"We will soon disperse the masses because we don't want after this new year there will be additional COVID-19," Agus said while checking security posts in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 31.

According to him, people need to be careful about the spread of COVID-19 by staying away from crowds. The reason is now the vaccination rate in West Java is already good, which has reached 75 percent.

"In West Java, 75 percent of us have been vaccinated, so the public must also understand the existing situation," he said.

Later, he said, TNI officers from each Koramil would be deployed to assist the police officers to disperse people who were still gathering.

As for the disbandment, he said, Jalan Asia Afrika will be opened as public access to vacate the area.

"Earlier we closed Asia-Africa, Mr. Kapolda has said that so that the people who gather can disperse," he said.

At 21.00 WIB, the situation in the area was quite crowded with people even though Jalan Asia Afrika had been temporarily closed by the police.

As of 22.00 WIB, it appears that people are still crowding the area to welcome the new year. Meanwhile, the traffic flow is temporarily diverted to avoid the center of congestion on Jalan Asia Afrika.
