JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion has prepared 5,901 Religious Affairs Offices (KUA) as a process of mentoring, counseling and pre-marital health checks to make the stunting prevention program a success in Indonesia.

Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi said this was part of the work program of the Ministry of Religion. Several policies, said Zainut, have implemented pre-marital guidance or known as Marriage Guidance (Binwin).

"We are ready to work together to realize early stunting prevention. We have a network of 5,901 District KUAs that have collaborated with the BKKBN. Of course we can immediately synergize this program so that its implementation goes according to the target," said Zainut in his statement, Friday, December 31.

Zainut said the Ministry of Religion was continuing to adopt the stunting issue in the Marriage Guidance curriculum and module. According to him, family resilience is an important issue that continues to be a concern for the Ministry of Religion.

"The purpose of the Marriage Guidance (Binwin) is to prepare prospective families to have psychological, social and family law skills," he said.

The targets of the Binwin program, continued Zainut, include prospective brides (catin) who have registered for marriage and teenagers of marriage age (19-25 years) who have not registered for marriage.

Binwin is a national priority program in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2017 concerning the Healthy Living Community Movement (Germas) and is a revitalization of the Prospective Bride Course (Suscatin) program that has been implemented at KUA so far.

Periodically, continued Zainut, the Ministry of Religion has evaluated and perfected pre-marital development. According to him, there are three concrete steps of the Ministry of Religion in strengthening premarital affairs.

First, increasing the capacity of facilitators by equipping Binwin facilitators evenly throughout the province. Second, expand cooperation in the implementation of Binwin.

"Currently the number of marriages reaches 1.9 to 2 million pairs every year. This figure has not fully received Binwin services from the KUA. For this reason, we continue to develop cooperation with Islamic organizations, universities and others," said Zainut.

Third, the fulfillment of KUA infrastructure through the KUA revitalization program as a priority program of the Ministry of Religion. This year, 106 KUA has been revitalized.

"In the future, the Ministry of Religion targets the revitalization to be carried out at 1,000 KUA every year," he said.
